Scopus 摘要和引文数据库是一个新的导航工具，它涵盖了世界上最广泛的科技和医学文献的文摘、参考文献及索引。Scopus收录了来自许多著名出版上的期刊来源，如 Elsevier、Kluwer、Institution of Electrical Engineers、John Wiley、Springer、Nature、American Chemical Society，等等。Scopus 的核心是全世界最大的摘要和引文数据库，涵盖了15000种科学、技术及医学方面的期刊。Scopus不仅为用户提供了其收录文章的引文信息，还直接从简单明了的界面整合了网络和专利检索。Scopus 还广泛的收录了重要的中文期刊。据不完全统计，截止 2008 年底，Scopus 总计收录了中国期刊657种；其中还处于更新状态的497种。
